The Climbers U9 Basketball Program is designed to provide young female athletes with a holistic approach to the game, focusing on skill development, fundamental movement training, team building, and boosting confidence. Our goal is to equip each player with the tools they need to succeed, both on and off the court.

Program Structure:

  • Skill Development:

    • Weekly practices focus on the fundamentals of basketball, including dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense.

    • Age-appropriate drills that enhance coordination, basketball IQ, and overall skill proficiency.

  • Fundamental Movement Training:

    • A specialized session dedicated to developing essential physical movement patterns such as agility, speed, balance, and strength.

    • Exercises to improve body control and athleticism, laying the foundation for future success in basketball and other sports.

  • Team Building:

    • Encourages teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship through collaborative drills and group activities.

    • Builds a sense of camaraderie and teaches the importance of working together to achieve common goals.

  • Confidence Boosting:

    • Positive reinforcement and a supportive environment help build self-esteem.

    • Players are encouraged to push past their comfort zones, develop resilience, and believe in their abilities.

  • Tournament Participation:

    • It is a fun opportunity for their first "away" tournament that allows players to apply what they've learned in a real game setting.

    • Focuses on learning through experience, with an emphasis on fair play and sportsmanship.

    • This tournament is TBD and in Calgary. If the tournament does not go ahead (due to a lack of teams), there will be an alternative one planned by our club.
